Colin Schour Yoga

The practice of Yoga is one Colin shares with enthusiasm and sensitivity to his students’ needs. His supportive teaching style encourages comfort and stability, while challenging students to progress in their practice. Colin’s language and style are meant to encourage a proper balance between effort and ease, so as to coax the body, breath and mind deeper in a safe and effective manner. He is equally excited about anatomy and smiles in class. : )

“The Standing Poses”

The foundation of any strong asana practice is the standing poses. Proper alignment in these foundational poses is the gateway to a more complex, refined practice.  Let Colin challenge you in the standing poses, as he incorporates Iyengar and Ashtanga traditions to attain sthira and sukha (stability and comfort) in this powerful, grounding asana practice. The class will begin with a short (and popular) walking meditation aimed at honing intention and attention.

Saturday Aug. 23, 7:00-8:30 AM

“Walking Meditation and Yoga”

In our lives (and our yoga practice) we sometimes get caught up in the obvious, the gross.  We lose attention to the subtleties that quietly determine our general attitude, health and well-being as we rush through Surya Namaskara or anxiously weave through traffic.  Join Colin for a walking meditation, a sattvic (serene, harmonious) pranayama session and attention to detail in classic poses to restore contact with your subtle self; that which is at the core of your being and guides your life.  We often hear, “The Devil is in the details.”  Well, God can be there too.

Sunday Aug. 24, 8:00-8:30

Beginning Mountain Bike Ride”

Join Colin for an introductory mountain bike ride through the beautiful hills of the San Bernardino National Forest. Proper alignment, helpful tips and bike specific stretches will be incorporated. Give this amazing life-long sport a go!

  • Salt Lake City Yoga Festival

Join Colin August 31st, September 1st and 2nd. Choose from more than 100 classes, seminars, workshops and music events!

“Going Yin-Side”

Our contemporary lives are typically more “yang” (active, dynamic, obvious) than “yin” (passive, slow, mysterious). In order to establish physical/emotional/mental equilibrium it is important to balance these two aspects of self. If you find your life (and yoga practice) to be more yang, come try this practice devoid of sun salutations and full of yielding, allowing and nourishing poses. Every yogi should experience the power of a slower practice in improving balance, body awareness and flexibility.
